Agriculture is one of the major sectors for the Indian economy that contributes 17% to the total GDP and provides employment to nearly 60% of the population. Farmer plays a vital role in agriculture and its allied sectors. Farmers generally start the work from early hours of the day until dusk. Major works of farmer include cultivating the land, managing water supply to the crops, providing nutrients as per the growth of plants and protecting from pests using fertilizers, pesticides etc at different levels of crop.
Protecting of crops requires wise use of pesticides, fertilizers etc that provides good crop growth and enhances the yield. Furthermore the conditions of farming community have been deteriorating due to various conditions like Global Warming, Low Income etc leading to farmer's suicide.
The governments need to support farmers by implementing schemes that are beneficial and empowering them in the usage of latest techniques in farming. Higher yield and income doubling agricultural policies should be drafted while maintaining natural terrain of land.
Finally for the well being of farmers the governments should take strategic steps which improves the crop yield and income.
